The Beach is My Church
By Ruben Blue
Religion is faith and devotion to good
and to what is still unknown
It’s a set of theories and old beliefs
Giving mysteries a cornerstone
I don't believe in God per se
As a man in the sky with a long white beard
Unless he's called "The Entire Universe"
From molecules to stars, to be revered
The plants, the animals, and the sky above
The mountains, deserts, and the sea so blue
The air we breathe, the water we drink,
Even music and songs are religion too
My church is where the ocean hits land
The crashing of waves is my favorite band
The sandy beaches with the warm sun
is my place to worship all that is grand
All religions have their own set of rules
So followers can worship in harmony
But if the rules lack common sense
That is not a religion for me
Praying satisfies the "prayee'"
But there are no "prayer waves" to be
Sitting in church on a Sunday
Only helps morality
The religion of tolerance is "civilization"
Harnessing man's impulsive ways
His emotions and reactions too
A necessity for mankind these days
Christians believe in the "Holy Ghost"
and "God's Determination"
Buddhists believe in "Karma"
These are called "Predestination"
"Predestination" is believing things happen
due to an unprovable force
"Faith," as used in religion,
Is believing in that force
After six thousand years of mankind
"Predestination" cannot be proved
It's just a myth, superstition that's all
Wrongly deducted and twice removed
My religion is "logic," things happen for a reason
Events that happen are called "Effect"
and "Cause" makes direct completion
With "Cause and Effect," events are direct
Buddhism is calmness and peace of mind
Native Americans trust Great Spirit's heart
Christianity is love, awe, and hope for mankind
As felt in the song, "How Great Thou Art"
Is "Thou" a God or the Universe?
Seeking God, the world they traverse
But I found "God" from my search
at the ocean's edge, the beach is my church
